A year since Baba’s operation. A year since I watched, sleepless, the pale wash of colors that filtered beam-like from the AC, a vigil moist-eyed till the colors blurred to a stunning clarity. Some lessons you never forget.

i will watch over my mother next week, as i watched over my father.

to see them suddenly helpless is something we never thought would happen.

to be parent or grandparent in that role reversal is not a place we want to ever be

arunima- :)

amit- it could be wedged, as in firmly lodged. or edged in, as in somethin that sneaks into your memory- I'll take both. thank you.

quin- true. Not easy. too many things happened at the same time. You are there for her, that's what matters, right?

I fear this time, as time seems to be slipping through my fingers more quickly these days. Taking care of my children is one thing, taking care of my mother quite another. Why is it I feel capable for one and not the other I wonder.

Not easy.
