Rich musical notes build a somber mood. As the rendition picks pace, notes move effortlessly from alaap to dhrut.
Close your eyes, and you can imagine a high-domed hall, with chandeliers, mirrors, and an audience of aesthetes in regal splendor.
An appreciative silence, respectful of genius.
An appreciative silence, and you notice the “next track” sign on the system.
It’s been worth it, sneaking out of a day of long meetings on Friday, to catch that classical music sale.
What it says for music and tradition if classical music is offered in a buy one-get one deal, I don’t quite know.
I got quite ok shots of the Gateway from behind the curtains, not bad at all.

Nicely put,Austere..and,nice imaginative thoughts about sitting at a concert...as for the 'buy one,get one free' deal for classical music sale, well,I guess,it means that the music companies were not able to sell as many copies as they anticipated.Right?Well,as far as we,the buyers are concerned, such sales are great,na?:)

I wish I could have joined you!

I took lessons on playing various types of hand drums. I would also like to learn the piano, but there is no room for it here, like many things, it will have to wait.

Ever been to Lakshmi Vilas Palace for the concerts there? Your description fits that place....I have not been there though I had an opportunity once, but I think it must have been like that....

someday I would want to visit one such concert, may be alone, may be with company... just listen to the sounds... not bothering for a second that I cant tell the difference between alaap and dhrut, not caring about the next person realizing that I dont know a note of music... just sit there and walk back...and may be walk back home...all by myself :(
