Week 3 in the hospital begins today.
Toughest thing in the world? To make a disinterested grumpy immobile recalcitrant elder eat. And return to steel will. When cajole, charm, beguile, threaten, barter-- all fail.
Light on the lawn. What a sacred troth is life. And how callous are we.

I hope all is well, and will be better Auster di.
*Sigh*
Maybe "responsibility" may work. His for him, you, and the rest. It may express itself in a big gulp of soup? Just a thought.
You do have a lot of patience Austy...lots to learn from you...I just hope you don't neglect yourself...take care...and hope your Dad recovers soon
Hope he gets better very soon, and you're able to be back home!TC-your strong will is also his strong will,in a way.
Hello Austere - I hope things are reasonably well. Take care for yourself too, please.
callosities form as protection
you are a woman of admirable strength austy! hugs ,things will get better soon. please keep us posted (either here or via twitter)..
:-) It is very frustrating when i want to pee and mom or hubby take time to bring the bedpan or answer back saying, wait for sometime. It's taxing for both parties i guess.
I am also trying to put myself in their shoes and be as patient as possible.
lying in bed the whole day somehow pisses me off though and i end up crying or getting frustrated often.
I am sure my family is feeling the same way as you do. By the way, i met with an accident and am bedridden with multiple fractures. Ah, such is life.
This feeling, I know. The older they are the crankier they get.
I wish you all the patience in the world.
