“Choo- sha”, the year-and-half-old says, stubbing a tiny finger at a picture of a chicken.
“And this?” his mom asks, pointing to what looks like cake.
“ Chockit” he says, insistent.
Surprisingly “dinosaur”, “butterfly” and “ bicycle” are a breeze.
Sometimes I do this too, labeling some things by names that fit right.

If I'm not thinking I will refer to Germany as "Germania", for some reason I am convinced it is the true name.

shakespeare gave us that liberty.....but we never seized it....we go by what we are taught. left to myself i will call those things 'flyincroc', chainwheels and flitflit

Hi,Austere...heh heh...the art of association,as I term it..calling things by the name we feel is right, instead of accepting the 'original' name..I use it more for people,though.haha.
I do that too.... associating things with funny names.. even whole stories !!
paavani- germania, sunfloweria, roseria, sab floweria, eh? :)
amitl- meow! that sounds mysterious all right.

Hey Aust,
I remember as a kid, I had deviced my own language... I had named it kaala bolaa.... Random words... Just for the sound.... at the end I remember I would break into hysterical laughter always...
Those were days.... laugh at free will ... cry at free will.... somehow home takes away the freedom from you... :(((
sathya- with my kid sister, we had this language nuw-nuw which special words and meanings that only we knew. hysterical laughter? sometimes. admire your ability to do that hyena call at will.
